Do I need a doctors’ referral to schedule an appointment with Pal Optical?

Referrals are not necessary in order to schedule an appointment. Our office staff will gather all pertinent information needed to determine the nature of your appointment and the approximate amount of time necessary to meet your needs.

Does reading in low light hurt my eyes?

There is no medical evidence that reading in low light conditions can physically harm your eyes. There is, however, ample evidence that doing so will lead to eye strain which can cause temporary discomfort.

How should I treat a blunt trauma blow to the eye?

The first step is to gently apply a cold compress to the eye to reduce swelling and reduce the pain. After that the eye should be carefully examined to detect lacerations. Depending on the severity of the blow and the appearance of the affected eye, medical attention is usually warranted. If you have doubts, it is a good idea to err on the side of caution and seek medical attention immediately.
